I love dots. They are like a universal language. This is an aboriginal artwork (Australia).

When I studied art in graduate school, the shiva lingum (Hindu symbol) and Aboriginal art emerged as a presence in my sensibility. Those emergences weren’t about influence, they were and are about being deeply imbedded in my psyche. The similarities arose before I had seen the art. People turned me on to this art after I had begun making it myself.

This painting is an original aboriginal painting I found on the web. When I first began blogging I posted it because I am interested in revealing my relationship to depth of this kind of art in my focus on painting dots. I am also interested in the poeple who make it and the dreaming from which it come. Not as an academic but as an intuitive maker in my own right.

They’re dot paintings. Done by just using a stick or a brush, and traditionally, crushed rocks & clay from the outback

This is an indigenus painting from Australia, all of these paintings have a story, a meaning, or is a birds eye view map of the terriroty they live in. This painting inparticular is probably i view of all the water holes the aboroginals have produced, this painting shows were they are.

I also really like the aboriginal painting. I was wondering if you knew the artist’s name and where they are from or anything about the painting or where you may have found the piece?
